En Plein Air in the
Preserve –
The Arts at Fakahatchee
Please
join us for En Plein Air in the
Preserve
at Fakahatchee
Strand Preserve State Park.
Saturday, February 18,
2012.
10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
For
our second meeting of the year, we’ll gather on the west side of
the road
across from the Harmon Shop, a blue
Building and a Water Treatment plant, north of the Park
Headquarters. Look for signs (similar to last time). The Park Headquarters are located at 137
Coastline Drive, Copeland, FL 34137. For a Google map image of
this
address, please click here.
We
plan to visit a recently burned area, which should give us some
interesting
subject matter. If we have time at the end, Karen Relish has
offered to
take us on a short walk to a cypress dome so bring long pants bring
footwear
that can get wet! A change of pants, shoes and socks may add to
the
comfort factor as well. We won’t have time to sketch during
the walk, but
it will add to the Fakahatchee experience and hopefully spark some
creative
ideas and connections.
Wear
old comfortable clothes and shoes (closed toes preferable, and a must
for the
cypress dome walk) and bring your art supplies/tools, bag lunch, plenty
of
water, and a portable chair or something to sit on.
Karen
is a Fakahatchee Park Ranger and can help with identification of some
of the
local flora and fauna. For information and to make a
reservation
please call Karen Relish at 239-695-2886 or email Elizabeth Smith
at lizardart@gmail.com.
Each
month we’ll meet at a
different location, but the dates
will remain the third Saturday of the month, January through April. If you'd like to read my blog post about our get-together in
January, please click here.
(PORTABLE
media includes:
pencil, charcoal, pastels, oils,
acrylics, crayon, watercolor, and/or carving. Journaling
and music is also welcome).
