This entertainment cabinetry
for the great room features a TV space behind bi-fold retractable
doors, an electric built-in firepace (supplied by owner), storage, and
lit display areas. The overall depth was kept fairly shallow
to incorporate a flat panel TV and to maintain the seating arrangement.
High ceilings allow for a dramatic height change in cabinetry
without overpowering the room. We worked closely with the
owner to incorporate all of the elements they wanted for this space,
which includes planning around electrical and cable outlets.
It's not unusual for a cabinetry design to go through several
design changes. |

The detail photo above shows the crown molding with dentil onlay, the beaded vertical pilaster molding, arched valance, and the Enkeboll corbels in the Acanthus pattern. The black trim rings on the halogen light in the center of the cabinet ceiling blend in with the stained wood. The lighting is on a concealed touch switch that controls three levels of light as well as on/off. The photo to the left shows the TV space with the bi-fold retractable doors in the open position. There are three drawers below this space for remote controls and DVD storage. On either side of the fireplace are doors with cabinetry access. These have small roll-out shelves for additional storage. The base cabinets on either end have adjustable full-depth shelves. The display areas above these have two adjustable shelves each, framed in wood with a clear glass insert to let the light shine through. |
