Built-in cabinetry to match a desk
Although we built this unit some years ago, it's still one of our favorite home office pieces.  The built-in cabinetry along one wall is designed to complement the existing free-standing desk.  The center upper section has adjustable glass shelves and wood framed glass doors for display; the interior is lit by halogen lighting.  The two upper bookcases on each end have adjustable wood shelves.  The desktop below is constructed as one piece, and custom cut to fit wall-to-wall.  The cabinetry below consists of closed storage with adjestable shelves behind raised panel doors with a computer wprkspace in the center.  There is task lighting behind the light valances below the upper display cabinetry, and a custom swivel keyboard pull-out with three height adjustments.  The photo below presents a better view of the warm and richly variable woodgrains.

Some of the other features of this cabinetry are:
  • Raised panel solid white oak doors on the base cabinets, wood framed doors with glass inserts for the upper display cabinets
  • Frameless style cabinets with concealed European hinges
  • All adjustable shelving
  • 3/8 inch glass shelves with a high polish front edge 
  • Solid birch dovetail drawers
  • Moldings in solid white oak: crown, bookcase pilasters, light rail, and detail moldings
  • Halogen downlighting with brass trim for the display areas and for the task lighting above the desktop
  • Touch latch opening on doors
  • Matching wood platform pull-out swivel for computer keypad
